General

What is the BayHaven Wine & Food Festival?

The BayHaven Food & Wine Festival is a three-day celebration of Black Foodways, aimed at raising awareness of Black culinary experts and creating opportunities for newcomers in the hospitality industry. Founders Subrina Collier and Chef Gregory Collier were inspired by the Harlem Renaissance — an intellectual and cultural revival of African American music, dance, art, fashion, literature and theater in the 1920s and 1930s — to create a festival that will educate and entertain.

When is the festival?

Friday, Oct. 22 - Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021

Where will the festival take place?

On the Camp North End campus in Charlotte, North Carolina. Camp North End is a 76-acre historic industrial site and one of the largest adaptive reuse projects in the country.

Why is the festival being held in Charlotte?

Charlotte is the perfect melting pot city, and it’s in close proximity to a lot of amazing chefs. Camp North End is amazing in their efforts to promote inclusivity, and the space is evolving on a daily basis. We are excited for the energy of Camp North End and Charlotte to be experienced  by festival goers.

Where can I find the schedule of events for the festival?

The full festival schedule will be released soon.

Is there an age requirement to attend the festival?

Yes, all events are for 21+ only except for the family-friendly Chuck Wagon Carnival taking place on Friday, Oct. 22.

Is there a charity tied to the festival?

The goal of the festival is not only to have a great time with some of the world's hottest chefs and beverage makers, but also to give a hand up to those that need it. Therefore, the festival is partnering with No Kid Hungry to continue the fight against childhood hunger in communities across the country. No child should go hungry in America. But in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, 1 in 6 kids could face hunger. No Kid Hungry is working to end childhood hunger by helping launch and improve programs that give all kids the healthy food they need to thrive. This is a problem we know how to solve. No Kid Hungry is a campaign of Share Our Strength, an organization committed to ending hunger and poverty. To learn more, visit www.NoKidHungry.org.

The Bay Haven Food Festival is also partnering with educational institutions to award scholarships and aid to students in the culinary field.

What COVID-19 precautions are you taking during the festival?

For entry to BayHaven Food & Wine Festival, organizers are requiring all guests over the age of 12 to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID test result within 48-72 hours of the event prior to entering the venue.

In accordance with Mecklenburg County’s mask mandate, all attendees – regardless of vaccination status – will be expected to wear a mask at all times during indoor events, except while actively eating or drinking.

All BayHaven Food & Wine Festival events will have sanitizer stations and masks available for attendees.

We will hold all events in spaces that allow for social distancing, masks and sanitization. We will be practicing any government-mandated rules about gatherings and will postpone if instructed to do so by officials due to any pandemic rules. It is the responsibility of the guests to wear masks according to government mandates if they are instructed to do so. In the event there is no mask mandate with vaccination, it is the responsibility of the guest to follow the rules and BayHaven and Camp North End assume no responsibility.
